How do you care for an umbrella tree?

They buy a Schefflera almost exclusively because of its foliage. So don't expect flashy flowers on your indoor umbrella plant. Actinophylla is a fast-growing ornamental tree that has been introduced to many regions. The money tree, which originates from Central and South America, is hardy in zones 10 to 12, but is usually grown indoors as a houseplant. Is the umbrella tree inside?

In Queensland, umbrella trees are declared environmental weeds, so there are no legal issues on the ground that could prevent them from being removed. As the size of new trunks increases, the trunk expands, contributing to the damage that tree causes to nearby structures. It's a fairly fast-growing, unusual, up to 30 feet tall and attractive looking tree, but it's on the EPPC Plant List One due to its invasiveness.

How big do umbrella trees get?

Its close relative () Schefflera (Actinophylla) needs to be carefully planted because of its invasive nature and is considered a weed in certain places. Whether it's used to make bonsai or simply to spice up a dark corner, dwarf umbrella trees are great for growing. Umbrella plants aren't at the top of the list of trendy houseplants these days, but they're an easy-care, low-maintenance plant that can add graceful foliage to a room. Schefflera arboricola comes from the forests of Taiwan and can reach 26 to 30 feet (8-9 m) in height outdoors, although it is generally 8 to 10.

When a tree matures, it will likely need to be supported with a stake or a moss stick (if it has matured enough and produces aerial roots), unless it is pruned and pinched.
